Apply for membership
Any person exercising management duties and performing a leadership role in a private or public sector enterprise operating lawfully in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg or abroad may become a member of the FJD (detailed recruitment criteria below). He or she must be aged under 45 at time of admission and must be put forward by two sponsors, both of whom must be members of the FJD. The board of directors then decides on the application without having to give reasons for its decision.
In order for FJD to continue being a place of quality exchanges among business leaders and managers and for it to remain a federation of proud members, there are strict recruitment criteria to be met in order to be considered eligible for membership.
1. ELIGIBILITY
Members must be aged less than 45 at the start of the financial year (October 1).
You need to be in an actual management position with a key impact on your organization’s strategic and financial decisions*
Your or your employer’s company must exist for at least 3 years and have an impact in the Luxembourg economy, business environment and/or cultural landscape
Two sponsors (one of whom must be a young business leader, i.e. less than 46 years old) need to support your application
The number of members per organization is defined as follows:
3-150 FTE – 1 member
151 to 500 FTE – 2 members
more than 500 FTE – 3 members
* Self-employed / Business owner
• Holder of the business licence (autorisation de commerce).
• Company must exist for at least 3 years.
• Company must have a minimum of 3 FTEs equivalent.
*Employed
• Either member in the board of directors/managers or in charge of a team of at least 5 people.
• Holding an actual management position for at least 2 years.
*Liberal Profession
• Candidates must have actual management duties (including without limitation HR, finance, business development, strategy, etc.).
• Company / Organisation must exist for at least 3 years.
• Company / Organisation must have a minimum of 3 employees (in case of freelancers/staff members being self-employed an equivalent of at least 5 FTE is required).
2. SPONSORS
To be admitted, any new member must be put forward by two sponsors, both of whom must be FJD members, ideally for over three years.
At least one sponsor shall be under 46 years old when signing the endorsement.
Sponsors shall not be members of the Board of Directors at the time of sponsoring the new member.
To avoid collusion, sponsors shall not have a significant equity stake, financial interest or close family ties with the new member they put forward.
One single member can sponsor up to three new members per year.
3. APPROVAL
The Board of Directors shall decide on the proposal upon its sole discretion, while ensuring that diversity in the represented sectors and activities within the Luxembourg landscape is maintained.
Similarly, the Board of Directors may question the membership of an existing member if the membership criteria as defined above are no longer met, if such member lacks commitment towards FJD or fails to abide by FJD values/spirit.
4. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Once accepted by the board of directors, the new member will need to accomplish a 2 year long probationary period within the FJD. In this time, the new member will be part of 2 working groups and will need to show commitment and motivation toward the task at hand and FJD values/spirit. The new member will also be expected to participate in various FJD events and activities (ideally including events held abroad). The Board of Directors reserves the right to cancel the membership of any person who does not meet these criteria (during and after probationary period).
